This Clinical Attachment in Rheumatology is designed to provide healthcare professionals with structured clinical exposure to rheumatology services, focusing on the diagnosis and long-term management of inflammatory, autoimmune, and musculoskeletal conditions within a hospital setting.

Program Focus

The program is designed to enhance participants' knowledge of rheumatology through supervised clinical exposure. This includes:

• Outpatient and Specialized Clinics: Exposure to general rheumatology clinics, early inflammatory arthritis clinics, and specialized sessions for connective tissue diseases (CTD), metabolic bone disorders, and chronic pain management.

• Diagnostics and Interventional Procedures: Insight into the interpretation of specialized immunology laboratories and advanced imaging, as well as supervised exposure to joint aspirations, soft tissue injections, and the clinical application of musculoskeletal ultrasound.

• Pharmacological Management and Biologics: Understanding the selection, monitoring, and administration of Disease-Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drugs (DMARDs) and biologic therapies, including patient screening, safety protocols, and toxicity monitoring.

  
  

Expected Outcome

Upon completion of the clinical attachment, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of rheumatology services within an NHS hospital in the UK. The program aims to strengthen theoretical knowledge, improve familiarity with outpatient-led clinical workflows, and enhance understanding of the management of chronic autoimmune conditions according to NICE and BSR guidelines.

• Visa Application Timeline: To ensure you have enough time for the visa process, you must apply to the program at least 4 months before your intended start date. This is a critical step, as obtaining a UK visa can take time.

• Support for Your Visa Application: Once accepted, you will receive an invitation letter from the host hospital. This letter is a crucial document that will assist you with your visa application, as it provides official confirmation of your training placement in the UK.

• Required Documents: To apply, you must submit the following documents:

  1. Your Curriculum Vitae (CV).

  2. University Diploma.

  3. Specialty Diploma (Resident doctors are also eligible to apply).

  4. Any other international exam results you may have.

  5. English Test Result if available.
