This Clinical Attachment in Colorectal Surgery is designed to provide healthcare professionals with structured clinical exposure to the surgical management of lower gastrointestinal conditions, focusing on both elective and emergency surgical pathways within an NHS hospital setting.

Program Focus

The program is designed to enhance participants' knowledge of colorectal surgical practice through supervised clinical exposure. This includes:

• Peri-operative and Operative Techniques: Exposure to a wide range of surgical procedures including laparoscopic and open resections for colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and pelvic floor disorders, as well as minor proctological interventions in the operating theatre.

• Outpatient Clinics and Diagnostics: Insight into the management of colorectal referrals, including rapid access cancer clinics, and the interpretation of diagnostic modalities such as colonoscopy reports, CT staging, and MRI proctograms.

• Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Management: Understanding the collaborative approach to complex surgical cases by attending colorectal MDT meetings where surgical, oncological, radiological, and pathological findings are integrated to determine optimal patient treatment plans.

Upon completion of the clinical attachment, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of colorectal surgical services within an NHS hospital in the UK.   3. Specialty Diploma (Resident doctors are also eligible to apply).

  4. Any other international exam results you may have.
